PRODUCT DESCRIPTION                                                                                          Functionality and enduring design are in the core of the design philosophy of the Finnish glassware company Iiittala. Founded in 1881, Iittala started as a glass manufacturer, and today, glass and art glass are still an essential part of its heritage. Perhaps the most famous singular object of Finnish design, the Aalto vase, was designed for Iittala in 1936 by Alvar Aalto.

Inspired by the thousands of lakes in his native Finland, design legend Alvar Aalto’s fluid waves (“aalto” in Finnish) shape made quite a splash when it won the 1937 Paris World Fair. Since then, it’s become a timeless symbol of Scandinavian home design. The legendary Aalto vase seamlessly combines form and function. Each unique glass vase goes through a multi-step production process at the Iittala Glass Factory. The unique crystal is mouthblown then the pieces are hand cut before going through several polishings. A small, decorative vase in a versatile clear colour that makes a striking piece of home décor.
